ABOUT ME
I don't know where my love for working with textiles came from. I like to say that it was passed down to me from my godmother, who used to be a ladies' dressmaker. I've been sewing since I was about 14. I started with making cushions and small bags, but garments were what truly interested me. I began subscribing to Burda, received several books on sewing, and slowly learned the basics. I even sewed my own graduation dress in a 50s style. One summer, I made extra money by sewing gathered petticoats on commission.
I studied architecture and civil engineering and worked as a designer in the field of public lighting. Sewing was a long-time hobby. In 2022, I decided to further my education in fashion and enrolled in a part-time program at the Secondary Vocational School of Art and Design (VOŠON SPŠO) in Prague, Holešovice. I no longer wanted to be just an amateur – I wanted a solid foundation, to understand the professional terminology, and to get closer to the field that has fascinated me my entire life.
I love learning and trying out new techniques. Every now and then, I challenge myself with something truly sophisticated, like dresses with a corset base or stays based on an 18th-century pattern. I collect old czech dressmaking manuals, high school textbooks, or brochures that offer advice on home sewing.
I can build a table or a wardrobe (not just the ones from IKEA), drill shelves, make and wire a lamp, model in 3D, and much more.
